FAIRFAX HIGH SCHOOL CREW is looking for a GIRLS VARSITY COACH.
Fairfax HS Crew is a highly competitive and nationally successful team of
approximately 50 male and female rowers. We row during the spring racing season
at Sandy Run Regional Park Rowing Facility on the Occoquan Reservoir, only 16
miles from Washington, DC and Alexandria, VA.
We are looking for a coach to work with our girl’s varsity squad reporting to
the team Head Coach.
A generous season salary is available.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Previous coaching experience.
- Excellent personal character.
- Demonstrated organizational and motivational skills.
- Demonstrated abilities in communication.
- Demonstrated ability to work with students.
- Desire to build a team around a mutual respect for one another and a
philosophy of inclusion and hard work.
- Competitive collegiate rowing experience or minimum 1 year coaching experience
at the collegiate level or 2 years at the high school level.
Responsibilities:
- Practices M-F, approximately 3:00-5:00PM and weekend regattas.
- Compliance with all FHS Crew procedures and policies.
- Work with the head coach to coordinate all practice sessions and training
programs with an emphasis on safety and team building.
- Supervision of girl’s varsity team athletes with emphasis on growth of novice
squad skill level.
- Promotion of a positive attitude, academic achievement, and personal growth.
- Maintenance of personal equipment and crew facilities.
